Description"Joanna Baillie (1762-1851) was a Scottish poetess and dramatist. In 1798 she produced the first volume of her "Plays on the Passions" under the title of "A Series of Plays". During her lifetime, Joanna Baillie was best known for her plays, which were popular in print in the United States during the nineteenth century, produced on stages in London, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Dublin.
